Fun fact — I’ve been photographing weddings for so long now that I’ve officially had my first repeat couple names! I recently photographed a Karl and Brittany…and years ago I also photographed a Karl and Brittany. Even more impressively, both couples spelled their names the exact same way — despite both names having plenty of possible variations.

Millcreek Inn is such a stunning venue and a beautiful way to showcase the Wasatch mountains. In late September, when Karl and Brittany were married, the canyon was bursting with peak fall color. Millcreek Inn has a gorgeous outdoor space where many couples hold both their ceremony and reception, and that was the plan for these two — until the skies opened. Shortly after their first look, before guests arrived, a torrential downpour began and didn’t stop for the rest of the day. I’ve photographed plenty of rainy weddings before, but never one with this much rain.

Thankfully, we pivoted indoors and the celebration carried on — cozy, joyful, and full of laughter. It wasn’t the original plan, but it ended up being wonderful in its own way.
