This couple didn’t come to Utah for engagement photos — they came to ski. That’s what made this event perfect. Proposing on the ski slopes didn’t need to pause the trip. It was the highlight of it. And being on the mountain was a great way to propose in an unbelievably beautiful setting.

With our help and knowledge of Utah mountains, Zak chose the summit of Great Western Express at Brighton, which has Mt. Timpanogos in the distance — a truly jawdropping view.

In advance, Zak and I shared photos of our ski outfits. On the big day, the photographer got on the chairlift before the couple did to have time at the top to find the best spot – given lighting and crowd conditions. When the couple got to the top of the lift, Zak asked Maddie to take a selfie together. She agreed. And as Zak put his phone away in his pocket, he pulled out the ring.  

We were able to capture her full reaction – surprise, realization, tears, laughter – all of it.

Working With a Photographer Who Skis

Ski proposals are different than regular proposals — they require more timing, coordination, and someone who can actually move confidently on the mountain.

I’m an expert skier and can photograph proposals while skiing alongside couples. That means:

• I can help recommend scenic spots at every resort
• I can follow you anywhere on the resort
• I can capture action shots mid-run

I also carry an Ikon Pass, which lets me shoot at any Utah Ikon resort (Brighton, Solitude, Snowbird, Alta, Deer Valley, Snowbasin, etc.) with no additional access cost — the only Utah resort not included is Park City Canyons.
