Mike & Taylor’s Utah Skiing Proposal at Snowbird
This proposal stressed me out before it went down haha.
Taylor and Mike are from Chicago, but they were coming to Utah to visit with a friend who recently moved here. And since the couple both snowboard, they obviously were going to hit the slopes as well. But, unknown to Taylor, Mike had additional plans for his time in Utah and plotted with me to make things work.
I recommended that he propose at the top of Snowbird’s tram because the views at the Summit are incredible. Mike loved the idea! Unfortunately, when I arrived at Snowbird, the line was excruciating long. The ski resort was doing avalanche control on the majority of the mountain and closed the majority of the lifts. Therefore, the few lifts that were still open were all incredibly crowded. After determining that there wasn’t a better way to get up the mountain, Mike and I decided that we would still meet at the top of the Tram – just one hour later than originally planned haha.
Visibility was perfect at the bottom of the Tram, but when I exited, I was met with a complete white-out. Not the view that we were hoping for haha. But the proposal was still incredible. Their joyous smiles brought all the brightness and warmth that the weather did not. Taylor truly didn’t see the proposal coming.
And we were able to get down the mountain together (I’m an expert skier) and take photos the entire way. And luckily the cloud cover disappeared as we got closer and closer to the bottom, so we were able to get the views we had intended after all!
